Taking care of someone with a serious illness is a big job, especially when it’s someone you love. You may be helping them with daily tasks, making sure they’re comfortable, and being there for them whenever they need you. But even the most dedicated caregivers need a break. That’s where respite care at Hospice Home can help. Did you know your loved one can stay at Hospice Home for up to five days to give their caregivers an opportunity to rest, allow them to attend appointments, out of town trips or participate in family gatherings and beyond? Even better, Medicare will pay for beneficiaries’ respite care stays. Some commercial insurance companies also cover respite stays. Stillwater Hospice will work with you to determine coverage.
Caring for a loved one with a serious illness can be physically and emotionally exhausting day in and day out. At Stillwater Hospice, we understand the weight of this responsibility. That’s why we offer respite care – a temporary, short-term stay that provides caregivers with the opportunity to rest and recharge, knowing their loved one is receiving high-quality, compassionate care. We provide respite care at Hospice Home and at contracted skilled nursing communities throughout our service area.
Hospice Home is a place where people with serious illnesses can stay and receive around the clock care, allowing their caregivers to take a much-needed rest. This is called respite care. It gives caregivers a short break to relax, take care of themselves, or catch up on other responsibilities, knowing their loved one is in a safe, caring environment.
Respite care is available for people with serious illnesses who are already receiving hospice care in a residential home with family or friends serving as caregivers and are in need of a brief stay outside of the home. This option provides a break for caregivers and allows their loved ones to receive round-the-clock attention in a peaceful, supportive setting at the newly renovated Hospice Home in southwest Fort Wayne. During a respite stay, patients are surrounded by our trained and compassionate care team who are skilled in managing symptoms, providing comfort, and ensuring that each person’s dignity is honored.
Respite care at Hospice Home gives caregivers a chance to step back, relax, or tend to other important responsibilities. Caregivers can use this time to focus on self-care, reconnect with other family members, or simply take a moment for themselves. The respite period allows caregivers to return to their role with renewed energy and strength, which ultimately benefits both them and their loved ones.
The advantages of respite care are many. It allows patients to experience a change of environment in a safe, serene setting. Hospice Home provides around-the-clock care in a home-like atmosphere. Each patient room is private and features a patio door to allow guests and patients to experience our beautiful gardens.
Our interdisciplinary care team, including nurses, social workers, volunteers, and spiritual care counselors, is dedicated to maintaining patients’ comfort and well-being during their stay.
